Alumni Weekend
This past weekend, the Alpha Pi Chapter held its annual alumni weekend event. On saturday, the chapter held a poker tournament with current brothers and alumni. The winners were Adam Goldstein and Alex Winokur. Unfortunately, Sunday turned out to be a rainy one and we never had the opportunity to play softball. The Dan Grossman memorial barbique still took place. Alumni and current brothers alike ate burgers and watched the Flyers and the Phillies. It was good to catch up and to learn about what was new in everyone's lives. Congratulations goes out to to Dave Silver and Nate Rosen for sharing the first annual Dan Grossman Scholarship, you guys would make him proud. Congrats also goes to Aaron Lentz as the runner-up and for showing his dedication to the chapter.
This weekend turned out very successful. It was a great way to spend the weekend with the alumni and talk about the past, present, and future of the chapter. What makes this event so special is that current brothers and alumni could talk about what the fraternity was like when they were current brothers and what it is like now. The history of this chapter is very important. It is important for alumni and brothers to keep in contact because we can learn so much from each other. Alumni . A thank you goes out to the alumni and current brothers who participated in the events. Alumni are always welcome to come visit the house, 2000 North Broad is not only for the active brotherhood, but the alumni as well!!
Thank You Alumni!!
TUGA award Ceremony
Yesterday, the TUGA award ceremony was held to give members of the Greek community awards for their successes and dedication. Two Alpha Pi members, one current brother and one alumni, won awards for their efforts in Greek life at Temple University.
Congratulations Pesach Kessler for winning the Greek Advisor of the Year award. You deserve it.
Congratulations Nate Rosen for winning the Emerging Leader award, hard work does pay off!!
Once again Alpha Pi brothers are proving to be leaders at Temple. Brothers are taking on bigger roles on campus and TUGA is taking notice.
Congratulations Pesach Kessler for winning the Greek Advisor of the Year award. You deserve it.

Holocaust Rememberance Event
On Thusday, the Alpha Pi chapter held its annual Holocaust remembrance event. The event was a success after months of planning from our very own brother, Yehoshua Freed. The event was held at the Edward H. Rosen Hillel center. It would have been nothing without our speakers, Erica Van Adlesberg and Moshe Engel because they shared their experiences and taught us life lessons.
The first speaker, Erica Van Adlesberg, was a survivor of
two concentration camps, Westerbork and Bergen Belsen. She was born in Germany
but moved to the Netherlands during the 30’s in an attempt to escape from Nazi
Germany. She experienced the horrors of the holocaust first hand with her
family.
The second speaker, Moshe Engel, spoke on his fathers’ behalf about his experiences as a survivor of the death camps, Auschwitz and Dachau. He spoke about how his father not only considered himself a survivor, but also a victor because he eventually had 20 grandchildren.
Overall, this event was very successful and the students at
Temple were able to hear first-hand experiences of the Holocaust. It isn’t
every day that we have an opportunity such as this. A special thanks goes out
to Hillel for allowing us to hold our event in their building. It just goes to
show that after nearly 7 decades we haven’t forgotten about the horrific tragedies
from the holocaust and we will still take the time to show our appreciation.

Spring Fling 2012
Today, Temple held its annual spring fling. This day celebrates the beginning of spring and the ensuing end of the semester. During this event, student organizations would sit at tables across Liacouras Walk, across Polett Walk, and some of 13th street. Every table had a carnival style game that was a fundraiser for their organization.
The Alpha Pi chapter held its very own table. The game was similar to water pong, where the contestant attempted to throw a ping pong ball into a cup. If they were successful for 2 out of 3 shots, they won a goldfish. Overall, Temple students had a great time and our table was very popular. We hope to have the same success at the next spring fling.

BBQ on the roof of Hillel
Yesterday, our chapter hosted a free BBQ on the roof of the Hillel center. An evening full of kosher hotdogs to hamburgers was capped off with our very own brother, Josh Freed, DJing the event. Many people came out to the event and they all had a great time. A special thanks goes out to Hillel for allowing us to hold this event.

Block Cleanup
On Sunday, some brothers of the Alpha Pi Chapter joined other campus Greeks in a block cleanup. The cleanup is mean't to give back to the community around us and help make a difference. From picking up trash to planting new flowers, the brothers showed that they care about their neighbors and the community as a whole.

Greek Sing 2012
Last night many brothers participated in a Temple Greek event called Greek Sing where all of the Greek organizations put on performances to promote Greek unity as part of Greek Week. After practicing for weeks and putting together a dance routine, they showed why AEPI is one of the top fraternities on campus and earned 2nd place from the judges. The act was both entertaining and funny. Below is the video so you can watch it yourself:
