AEPi Police Appreciation Night

This past Tuesday, The Alpha Pi chapter gave back to the Temple University and Philadelphia Police Departments for all their hard work. Brothers brought donuts and coffee out to officers on duty and several boxes to the police station. Both Temple and Philadelphia Police play such a vital role in keeping students safe, it's only right to give back a little bit. To all the officers, thank you from the brothers of the Alpha Pi chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity!

Busy Times At Alpha Pi

It's been a busy and exciting few weeks here at Temple University. As the school year comes to a close, the men of the Alpha Pi chapter have been busier than ever.

Recently, Temple University, in conjunction with the Temple University Greek Association, held it's annual Greek Week. With events ranging from a block party to greek olympics, the Alpha Pi chapter had an amazing showing. We were proud to take home 3rd place overall!

Over the past few months, brothers Gavi Cohen and Nate Rosen have been working hard to put together a Holocaust Remembrance event. Last Wednesday, the culmination of their efforts came together for an incredible event held at the Hillel Center here on campus. The night included two incredible speakers, Anthony Morrone and Sarita Russ Gocial. Mr. Morrone was a United States soldier who was among the first to liberate the Buchenwald concentration camp. He was gracious enough to share his experience and remind us all of the horrific events that took place. Sarita Russ Gocial is a child of two Holocaust survivors. She has held many positions with various local and international organizations. For the past five years she has been Chair of Philadelphia’s Annual Memorial Ceremony for the Six Million Jewish Martyrs. This event was initiated by the Survivor community of Philadelphia in 1964 with the dedication of the Monument to the Six Million Jewish Martyrs; the first monument to the Six Million in the United States. Nate and Gavi did an amazing job and the event was a great experience as wel as a reminder that we can never forget the horrors of the Holocaust.

This past Sunday, Alpha Pi held it's annual Parenthood Day at the house. This great event allowed parents to come out and see the wonderful house and meet the brothers. Featuring a beautiful catered lunch and a video presentation, a great time was had by all!

Purim Time!

Jewish holidays in Alpha Epsilon Pi are always something that our brothers look forward to! The most recent holiday of Purim was one of celebration and togetherness within the Alpha Pi house on broad street! Last night Temple Universities Chabad Rabbi, Baruch Kantor, came over to the house for the reading of the Megillah and to help our brothers celebrate the holiday right! Brothers from the chapter gathered around the rabbi while snacking on bagels and hamantash while we took part in the Jewish readings together!

Brother Taylor Forlano's Bar Mitzvah!!

Saturday morning, March 19th, Sophomore brother Taylor J. Forlano took a large step into identifying his Jewish roots by becoming a Bar Mitzvah at the Edward H. Rosen Hillel Center for Jewish Life at Temple University. The service was ran by Rabbinical Intern Jessica Shimberg and was a delight for all of the brothers of the Alpha Pi Chapter and for Taylor's family members who were in attendance. Taylor looks forward to continuing his Jewish studies!

Tonight after our brotherhood meeting we had a small birthday celebration for the Alpha Pi Chapter! We look forward to progressing this great brotherhood for another 55 plus years!

Brothers From AEPi Canada Visiting!

This past Sunday, the Alpha Pi Chapter opened up our house to the brothers of the Eta Theta Chapter from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada who were on a road trip. It was very exciting to have brothers from a chapter in another country over our house! The Alpha Pi Chapter is always there to support our brothers if they need a place to crash for the night.

AEPi Mid-Atlantic Conclave in Virginia Tech

From Friday the 18th to Sunday the 20th, 20 brothers of the Alpha Pi Chapter took the drive down to Virginia Tech University for the mid-atlantic conclave. The Sigma Alpha Chapter at Virginia Tech hosted its first conclave ever and it was an extreme success. Brothers from all over the east coast were in attendance! During the weekend, two current brothers Alex Gionet and Brandon Cohen both taught executive board classes to other AEPi brothers from other chapters. The brothers from the Alpha Pi Chapter really go a lot out of this experience and are ready to share what they learned during the weekend with the other brothers in the chapter.

Alpha Pi's 1986 Re-Founding Fathers and Alumni Event

Saturday afternoon the Alpha Pi Chapter may have held the most memorable event of the year at the house. The re-founding fathers of the Alpha Pi Chapter and other alumni came by to reunite with each other and the current brothers of the chapter. The event lasted several hours and was an unbelievable experience for all. The current brothers of the chapter really got some great insight on the history of our beloved brotherhood. You could see from the alumni how much it meant to them to see the chapter's success today. Alumni events like this will definitely be a focus for us in the future. Pictured above are the re-founding fathers from 1986!!

Below is the video that was made by a re-founding father for our event!

Third Bi-Annual Police Appreciation Night

Tonight, February 1st, the Alpha Pi Chapter hosted its third bi-annual Police Appreciation Night for the Temple University Police Department and for the Philadelphia Police Department. The event kicked off early in the evening for the men and women officers that were on shift who wanted to get out of the cold and grab a nice warm cup of joe! We as a Chapter enjoy putting on this event every semester because it gives us an opportunity to thank the officers for how much they do for us on a daily basis. After having coffee and donuts at the house for the officers on shift, we decided to also take a portion of the goods to the local campus police station so that even the men and woman not out patrolling could enjoy! We look forward to continuing this event next semester!

Above shows brothers outside of the Temple University Police Station delivering hot coffee and donuts to the officers.

Alpha Pi in Israel!!

Over the winter break, 8 brothers of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi traveled to the beautiful Jewish homeland for Taglit - Birthright. The brothers who took part in this trip of a lifetime had nothing but wonderful memories to bring back to the chapter. This experience was a great one, especially when spent with eight of our brothers. Younger members of the Alpha Pi chapter were educated by the brothers who took the trip and now are also looking forward to taking to voyage to Israel. With there being an Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter in Israel, this really meant a lot to the brothers who went, and to our brotherhood.

Above shows the group of brothers who went on the trip, along with the two Israeli Soldiers who also joined us.(Front)
The brothers shown above from left to right. (Mike Abrams (2011), Peter Vakarev (2012), Yosef Mcintosh (2013), Skylar Rudolph (2013), Alex Shelow (2011), Geoff Allen (2013), Scott Rosnov (2013), Nate Rosen(2013) )

Among the great experiences in Israel, this picture above may show one of the most memorable. Brother Peter Vakarev (2012) took a large step into finding his Jewish roots by becoming a Bar Mitzvah!!
