2009 Holocaust Event

Tonight the chapter hosted its 2nd annual Yom HaShoah Holocaust Memorial Event. Over 60 members of the Temple community attended the event which featured a kosher catered dinner and Holocaust speaker Anne Winthrop telling her story. Anne, a survivor of the Kindertransport Organization, told her story then took questions from the audience. The event was held in the prestigious Great Court at Mitten Hall. Anne generously donated several of her own books to the chapter and to the University's library on our behalf. We are incredible thankful to B'nai Brith for helping put together the event. Temple Student Government and Hillel also generously supported the event both financially and with promotion. Joe Littman (2009) concluded his time as an undergraduate as the main planner of this event. We look forward to hosting this event, in conjunction with other organizations, for years to come.

Brother Elected Student Body Vice President

Jon DeSantis (2010) was elected Student Body Vice President today, running on a slate with 2 other members. Their slate, TUAction, won with 57% of the vote with nearly 2,300 votes (the most votes in the history of the University.) They ran against one other ticket, and after nearly a month of arduous campaigning, came out victorious. The entire chapter was instrumental in the Temple Student Government campaign. Jon follows in a long line of student government involved brothers including former Treasurers Brad Hoffman (2007) and Ryan Feldman (2006.)

AEPis Leading TUGA

Two Alpha Pi brothers were elected to serve on the Executive Board of the Temple University Greek Association, the representative voice and programming body of Temple's 900 person strong Greek Community. Alex Shelow (2011) was elected President (the third AEPi brother in 5 years to be TUGA President), and Dan Lyons (2012) was elected Vice President of Finance (formerly known as Treasurer.) Once again, it can be safely said that AEPi is leading campus. Alex and Dan will be officially installed as President and Vice President at the Greek Awards ceremony at the end of the month.
